When your Webafrica service starts partway through a month, your first bill may be higher or lower than your normal monthly subscription. This is because of pro-rata billing.
Pro-rata means you only pay for the days your service is active.
How pro-rata billing works
If your service starts during the month, Webafrica does not charge you for the full month upfront. We calculate the cost based on the number of days left in that month.
The formula is:
Monthly subscription ÷ days in the month × active days
Example:
R500 ÷ 30 days × 16 days = R266.66
So, if your service is active for 16 days, your pro-rata charge will be R266.66.
Why your first bill may be higher
Your first payment may include:
- A pro-rata amount for the current month.
- Your normal monthly subscription for the next month.
This is because Webafrica bills monthly subscriptions in advance.
You are not being charged twice. You are paying for the part of the current month you used, plus the next month in advance.
Existing customers adding another service
If you already have a Webafrica account and add another service, pro-rata billing may also apply to the new service.
After the first payment, your normal monthly subscription will continue as usual.
