{"id":52,"date":"2020-09-01T05:13:30","date_gmt":"2020-09-01T05:13:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/knowledge.webafrica.co.za\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=52"},"modified":"2024-02-20T13:07:43","modified_gmt":"2024-02-20T13:07:43","slug":"fibre-and-your-router","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/knowledge.webafrica.co.za\/index.php\/knowledge-base\/fibre-and-your-router\/","title":{"rendered":"Using PPPoE to connect your router to Webafrica Fibre"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Things you&#8217;ll need to know before you start:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For most of our Fibre services, your router has to be configured on PPPoE in order to connect to the internet. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are making use of one of our Free-to-Use routers, this should be set up for you already.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, for other routers or to manually configure PPPoE you will need your PPPoE username and password, which can be found on your Customer Zone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webafrica.co.za\/clientarea.php\">Customer Zone<\/a> to log in. Go to My Services &gt; Internet Access &gt; Find your Fibre product and hit the Account Details button. You will now be able to see your username and password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In order to configure your router, you will have to be connected to it either via WiFi or ethernet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Connecting to WiFi on your Fibre router:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Switch the WiFi on your device ON and find the SSID (WiFi name), which should be on a label at the back of your router labelled as either WiFi Name or SSID<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you\u2019ve found the SSID, you can insert the Wireless Key (WiFi password), which can also be found at the back of your router<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alternatively, you can connect to the device using a network cable instead of WiFi.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Logging into the router interface:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once you are connected to the router (via WiFi or Ethernet cable), you will need to access the router\u2019s interface using your web browser (Edge, Firefox, or Chrome).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on your browser\u2019s search\/URL bar and type in the Default IP Address of your router. For Zyxel routers, this is 192.168.1.1 by default. Check the sticker on the back of the router for \u201cDefault IP address\u201d if you are using a router other than Zyxel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019ll then be required to provide a username and password. Generally, your router will display an illuminated LED showing an internet symbol (normally an icon of a globe or similar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go ahead and test the connection by loading your favourite website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We realise that you might not be using one of our Zyxel units. The general process for configuring your router will be the similar.
