We’re upgrading Webafrica Telkom LTE services to a new network platform. The upgrade will take place between 24 and 31 August 2026, with customers being migrated in daily batches.
The good news is that there’s very little you need to do.
Before your upgrade
We’ll let you know when your service is scheduled to be upgraded.
You’ll receive:
- An email explaining the upgrade and what to expect.
- An SMS reminder on the morning of your scheduled migration date.
What happens on the night?
Your upgrade will take place between 1am and 4am on your scheduled migration date.
During the upgrade, your LTE connection may be unavailable for up to 30 minutes at some point during the night.
You don’t need to stay awake or do anything while the upgrade takes place.
What’s improving?
Once you’ve been moved to the new platform, you’ll have access to improved tools for managing and monitoring your Telkom LTE service.
Better usage tracking
You’ll be able to view your internet usage directly from your Customer Zone.
You will no longer need to use a separate Telkom self-service portal to check your usage.
Clearer FUP information
If you’re on an Uncapped Telkom LTE service, your Customer Zone will show an easy-to-understand Fair Usage Policy (FUP) percentage, making it simpler to see how much of your FUP allocation you’ve used.
Automatic FUP notifications
Uncapped customers will receive SMS and email notifications as their usage approaches or reaches the applicable FUP thresholds.
Boosters
If you’re on an Uncapped service and reach your FUP threshold, you’ll have access to Boosters to add additional usage.
What do I need to do after the upgrade?
Your router should reconnect automatically once the upgrade is complete, so in most cases you won’t need to do anything.
If your internet connection doesn’t come back on its own, restart your router:
- Switch the router off.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Switch the router back on.
- Allow a few minutes for it to reconnect.
Important: You don’t need to change any settings on your router. This includes your APN settings.
What if my internet doesn’t reconnect?
If you’ve restarted your router after the migration and your LTE service still doesn’t reconnect:
- Make sure the router is switched on and has finished starting up.
- Check that it has a network signal.
- Restart the router once more and allow a few minutes for it to reconnect.
- If you’re still unable to connect, contact Webafrica Support for assistance.
