Plugging in your Wi-Fi router can be super easy. The entire process can take up to 10 minutes for you to connect your devices to the wireless network and start surfing the web!
Things you’ll need to know before you start:
- Your Zyxel router will have to be connected to a power socket close to your Fibre ONT(Device installed by FNO)
- In your box, you’ll find the router, power adapter and ethernet cable
Connecting your router to the Fibre ONT
- Find the power adapter in your router’s box and connect your router to a power socket via the black power socket on your router and push the power button on your router to turn it on
- Now, find the ethernet cable and connect this between the blue WAN port on the router to the 1st LAN(Ethernet) port on your ONT
- The WAN LED on your Zyxel router should now be flashing

Connecting to your router
- On your device(PC, Smartphone), enable Wi-Fi and find the 2.4Ghz SSID(Wi-Fi name)
- Not sure what this is? Check the back section of your Zyxel. It will be displayed as the SSID. It usually starts with the word “Zyxel”
- Check for this SSID in your available Wi-Fi networks on your device and try connecting
- Now type in the Wireless Key(Wi-Fi password), this should also be found at the back of your router
- Alternatively, you can connect to the device using an Ethernet cable instead

Connecting to the Internet
The nice thing about our Zyxel routers are that they can be configured with the username and password for internet access automatically. This process can take between 5 and 10 minutes.
All you’ll have to do is connect to the Wi-Fi network and wait for the internet light on the router to switch to green.
If the router’s internet light has not yet switched to green, check the previous steps to see if you haven’t missed anything. If still nothing, you’ll have to configure your router manually. The following steps should help with the process.
Logging into the router interface:
- Once you are connected to the router (via Wi-Fi or a Ethernet cable), you can access the router’s interface using your web browser(Edge, Firefox, Chrome).
- Click on your browser’s search/URL bar and type in the Default IP Address. For Zyxel routers, this is usually 192.168.1.1 but can be found on the sticker on the back of the router as the “Default IP adress”
- You’ll then be required to provide a username and password. The default username is “admin” and the password will be found on the sticker on the back of the router.
- If you cannot locate the login details or default IP address, please check the manual that came with the device.
Basic PPPoE (Username and Password) settings:
For the manually configuration, please follow the below steps. Depending on the type of service you have with us, you may need to use PPPoE, which requires a username and password. This information would have been sent to you via your activation email.
PPPoE set-up:
- In the top of the panel on the right, look for and click the menu icon. This normally looks like three lines on top of each other
- Now click the option “Network Setting” and click “Broadband”
- You will have 1 WAN interface listed as ETHWAN, click the ‘’Edit’’ icon
- Then update the ‘’PPP Information” namely, the username and password that you were provided within the activation email.
Once you’ve typed in your username and password, scroll down and hit the Save/Apply button. You should now be able to connect to the internet!
Go ahead and test the connection by loading your favourite website.
