What happens during a pre-order?

What is a pre-order?

To ensure you can get a Fibre connection at your property, network components have to be installed in your area. These components will help give your home internet access and are normally installed by our Fibre Network Operators (FNO).

Once an FNO starts the installation in your area, Webafrica gets a heads-up from them, that the area might go live soon and that’s when we make those areas available for pre-orders. Basically, you’re adding your name to the installation queue for when your area is officially Fibre-ready.

How long is this going to take?

Installing a network in a suburb can generally take anywhere between one and three months. When the network is ready, the FNO will accept your pre-order for installation to your home.

Once the order is accepted, your status changes from “pre-order” to “order pending” and we’ll notify you via various communication platforms – so ensure you sign up with your latest, correct details! We want to get you connected as soon as possible so that you can enjoy your interwebs.

What can be done to rush the pre-order?

When providers are installing it’s best to let them do their job. Pre-orders cannot be rushed as installing network components properly takes time.

Webafrica will notify you as soon as your order is eligible for installation and moves toward getting your connection active in no time.

Sometimes you’ll actually see technicians in your area hard at work with cabling being installed, this does not mean that your area has gone live yet.

As stated earlier, it could take up to three months for an area to go live and in that period you’ll see a lot of civil work happening in your area.

Sit tight, we’ll do all the work to get you active as soon as we possibly can.

What about Vuma Reach connections?

If you have placed a pre-order for Vuma Reach Fibre, when your area goes live you’ll get communication from Webafrica with the initial payment link or if you’re a prepaid customer, we will send you your EasyPay reference number. This means that Vumatel has accepted your order for installation and would like to get a technician out to your home as soon as payment has been received.

People in your neighbourhood already active?

In some cases, the activation of an area can be staggered. This means that providers might only allow installation orders for some streets in your area at a time.

Sometimes you’ll have to wait a bit longer than your neighbour across the street, but as soon as we get the green light for your installation, we’ll let you know!
