If you are an existing Webafrica customer and want to change the way you connect to the internet, you can request a new service option through your Customer Zone.
This is useful if you want to move from an older service, such as ADSL, to a newer option like Fibre, Fixed LTE, or 5G.
What Does Changing Technology Mean?
Changing technology means switching from one type of internet connection to another.
For example:
- ADSL to Fibre
- ADSL to Fixed LTE
- Fibre to Fixed LTE
- Fixed LTE to Fibre
- Fixed LTE to 5G
The available options depend on what services are available at your address.
Before You Start
Before changing your service, keep the following in mind:
- Availability depends on your address.
- Fibre availability depends on the Fibre Network Operator, also known as the FNO, in your area.
- Fixed LTE and 5G availability depend on network coverage.
- Your current service may need to be cancelled as part of the change.
- You may need different equipment for the new service.
- Package prices, speeds, and deals may change.
Do not cancel your current service too early, as this may leave you without internet while the new service is being installed or activated.
How to Change or Upgrade Your Internet Service
Step 1: Log Into Your Customer Zone
Log into your Webafrica Customer Zone.
Step 2: Go to Your Services
Select My Services and then choose the service you want to change.
Step 3: Check the Available Options
The Customer Zone will show the internet options available for the address linked to your account.
If the address is incorrect, update the address during the process so that the correct options can be checked.
Step 4: Choose Your New Service
Select the new service or package you want to move to.
You may see options such as:
- Fibre
- Fixed LTE
- 5G
The options shown will depend on availability at your address.
Step 5: Confirm Which Service You Are Replacing
You may be asked to confirm which existing Webafrica service the new service will replace.
This helps us avoid duplicate services and unnecessary double billing.
Step 6: Confirm Your Address and Details
Check that your address and order details are correct.
Once everything looks right, submit your request.
What Happens After I Submit the Request?
Once your request is submitted, Webafrica will process the order and confirm the next steps.
Depending on the service you choose, this may include:
- Checking availability at your address
- Confirming the package you selected
- Arranging Fibre installation
- Activating an existing Fibre line
- Sending or confirming the correct router or device
- Cancelling or replacing your old service where required
Changing to Fibre
If you are changing to Fibre, the process depends on whether Fibre is already installed at your address.
If Fibre Is Already Installed
If the Fibre line is already installed, Webafrica may be able to activate the line once it is available.
If the line is still active with another ISP, the previous ISP must cancel and release the line first.
If Fibre Is Not Installed Yet
The Fibre Network Operator will need to arrange the physical installation.
Installation times can differ depending on the FNO, property access, area, and appointment availability.
Changing to Fixed LTE or 5G
Fixed LTE and 5G use wireless network coverage instead of a Fibre line.
This may be a good option if:
- Fibre is not available at your address
- You need a wireless home internet option
- You want a quicker setup option
- You are moving away from ADSL
Coverage and performance may vary depending on your location and signal quality.
Will I Need New Equipment?
Possibly.
Different services use different equipment.
For example:
- ADSL routers usually do not work for Fibre, Fixed LTE, or 5G.
- Fibre requires an ONT installed at the property and a compatible router.
- Fixed LTE and 5G may require a compatible SIM-based router or device.
If new equipment is needed, Webafrica will confirm this during the order process.
What Happens to My Old Service?
Your old service may be replaced or cancelled as part of the change.
The exact process depends on the type of service you currently have and the service you are moving to.
Before cancelling anything yourself, make sure your new service is ordered and that you understand the activation timeline.
Can I Upgrade My Speed Without Changing Technology?
Yes.
If you already have Fibre and only want a faster or slower package, you may be able to change your package without changing the actual connection type.
For example, moving from a lower Fibre speed to a higher Fibre speed is a package change, not a technology change.
Important Things to Know
- All packages, prices, and deals are subject to change.
- Availability depends on your address.
- Installation and activation timelines can differ by service type and provider.
- Fibre line releases are controlled by the current ISP or FNO process.
- Do not cancel your current service too early unless instructed to do so.
